Hi everybody… so Kibonen Nfi’s website for her Kibonen NY brand crashed today due to very heavy traffic on the website and here is why:

A day after Thanksgiving Day in the US, Fashion Designer Kibonen Nfi (founder of Kibonen NY) was featured on the very popular Humans of New York (HONY) on their Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages. For anyone who follows HONY, would probably know that as of today they have over 16 million followers on Facebook alone, 360,000 followers on Twitter and 3 million+ followers on Instagram! If you get spotted and featured by them, where they tell your story, there is a very high chance you will instantly gain tons, I mean TONS of new fans and followers!! Today our lucky girl Kibonen was featured in a three part story by #HONY and she has reportedly gained over 10,000 new followers to her Kibonen NY Facebook Page and heavy traffic to its website! This message was posted on Kibonen NY’s FB page just hours after Kibonen Nfis feature on HONY:

KibonennywebsitecrashBelow is a snapshot taken from the Humans of New York Facebook page showing part 1 of 3 of Kibonen’s feature. For parts 2 and 3, you need to go to the Humans of New York FB page.

It is true that when it is your time, it is your time and things fall into place to prepare you that big  moment in your life. Just last week, I coincidentally re-posted on my Instagram page a picture taken last year of Kibonen and I hugging each other AS SEEN BELOW:

Little did I know that she would be featured on HONY and become the most talked about person! Its amazing how things happen. Her journey is one to talk about as we have all had that moment in time when we needed to take two steps back to take that one big leap forward. Her story should serve as an inspiration to all who have had set backs in life or think that they will never get that big break. There is always light at the end of the tunnel! What do you think of this story? xoxo… M.E. Visit  Kibonen NY at

Her feature on HONY made me to start following the page. I have heard about her from mutual friends’ posts on facebook but it was inspiring to read her story on HONY. Thank you for adding your push to take her forward. We sure need our own designers.

Don Princess Mbols, I love this write-up and the exhortation to check out the triple post on #HONY because it’s unprecedented, but not surprising to the rest of us who’ve been following Kibs for a while now. Thanks for staying true to yourself in your relentless struggle to unleash and reveal budding Cameroonian talent. #BGC stands ready to support the Hotjem anytime. Don Julio Bats.

Why am I not suprised that I am reading about the success of our Cameroonian lady Kibonen on the Hotjem? Mbole you are true to your game and have shown never ending support of people from Cameroon more than anyone else I know. I hope you too are blessed with greatness for highlighting the success stories of your people.

I am very proud of you and this is just one of the many examples where God’s time is best kicks in.. Many of us don’t realize how much fashion designers sacrifice time, money, family time to do these things. I am very proud of you Kibonen and remember the sky is the limit..
