The tragic death of Monique Koumaté didn’t go unnoticed as New York based Cameroon artist Richard Bona made various statements about it on social media. He announced that he will be preparing a song in memory of Monique – a Cameroonian woman who died along with her unborn twins prior to arriving at Laquintinie Hospital in Douala, Cameroon (although people are claiming otherwise) and this made headline news all over Cameroon and on the internet!
On his Facebook page he wrote:
“Monique Koumaté it’s 9am… Today I am in my studio to compose a little melody to end ” this indifference of the medical profession ” and that it does not happen again…”.
His commitment to this cause allegedly even earned him the retaliation of Cameroon secret services. Richard Bona is based in New York and usually gives his opinion of his country’s problems on social network.
