We are sad to announce that legendary musician Papa Wemba died last night on stage during a performance in Abidjan and his official Facebook page has confirmed his death! It is unclear what the cause of death is at this time but it appeared as if he collapsed and passed out on stage! On thing is clear is that he looked great prior to the show! THJ will be on the look out for more information on his passing.
The last week has seen the deaths of great musicians across the world from Prince who suddenly died on April 22nd (four days after his last performance) and now the great Papa Wemba. This raises another question – Should artists have personal nurses and doctors on call at their concerts to check on their health status prior and after each performance. We are seeing a rising number of artists dying right after a performance of some kind. That will be another discussion for another time but one thing is for sure, your Cameroonian fans will mourn for you Papa Wemba and your musical talent will never be forgotten.
