The entertainment industry is known to have an unattractive side despite it being an employer to many people, be it women or men. The industry even seems to have more space for women than it does for men.
The adverse effects of the entertainment industry also always tend to weigh more heavily on women, especially young and naively passionate ones, who have to sometimes go through unfavorable situations before succeeding in the milieu. Most of them end up becoming “Baby Mamas” which in most cases have proven to be a redirection for most of their careers.
Over time, there has been this revolution with most baby mamas within the entertainment industry. In as much as some of them always regret getting pregnant for men who might not end up marrying them, or who sometimes abandon them with their kids, the kids somehow become like way openers for their moms, something we call “a blessing in disguise”
Women like Nollywood actress Genevieve Nnaji, recording artists: Blanche Bailly, MIMIE, Asaba, Muriel Blanche and other women in show business in general, have all proven that having a child redirects your steps as a woman in the entertainment industry. Since these ladies gave birth, they’ve either found a new path or have intensified their efforts towards focusing more attention to their careers.
Most at times, these types of women tend to lose interest in marriage and focus solely on their children and careers. It’s unclear why most women in the entertainment industry after having babies don’t seem to be interested in marriage. Anyway, that is a topic for another day. The focus of this article was on the observations and findings made concerning baby mamas.
Not 100% of these women have the same ideology as some have gotten married and others lives haven’t proven more admirable after such experiences, but the majority have turned out to be if not successes, then potential successes. Most of the time, once they get pregnant, they are now liable to pursue their career with much intent!
So the big question here is:
Is being a baby mama a prerequisite for a successful career in entertianment industry? Do you think when women who have a child/children very early in their careers stand a chance of succeeding easily in the industry?
NB: We’re not encouraging ladies to give birth or pick up unwanted pregnancies just to prove a point. Let’s hear your opinion on this matter.
Asaba, signed under Starfish Entertainment celebrates her birthday today. We celebrate you.
