Do you remember the infamous Will Smith moment at the Academy Awards, when the “Pursuit for Happiness” actor smacked his friend and colleague – Chris Rock, for using his wife Jada Pinkett, to make a joke on that unforgettable night? This happened in 2022.
Two years later, fans haven’t move on from that incident, as new social media rumors have it that Chris Rock has recently won a $40million lawsuit against Will Smith.
The HotJem, had to follow-up these rumors to know whether they were true or not, and after fact-checking, there’s no valid source that proves that there was a lawsuit in the first place, talkmore of a $40million settlement be met.
There’s no doubt, that the slap by Will, cost him his friendship with the comedian. It as well, had an adverse effect on his image as he didn’t only receive backlash from social media. He also got a 10 year-barn from the Academy awards.
Chris Rock, went on to get secure a huge deal with Netflix for a comedy series, and didn’t hesitate to use this opportunity to get back at Will.
“Y’all know what happened to me. Getting smacked by Suge Smith. Everybody knows. Everybody f***ing knows. Yes! It happened. I got smacked like a year ago, f***ing last week, I got smacked at the f***ing Oscars by this motherf***er. And people like, “Did it hurt?” It still hurts. I got “Summertime” ringing in my ear. F***ing drums, please.
But I’m not a victim, baby. You will never see me on Oprah or Gayle crying. You will never see it. Never gonna happen.
People always say “You guys are fighting all the time.” We’re not fighting. First of all, I know you can’t tell on camera. Will Smith is significantly bigger than me. We’re not the same size, okay? We’re not. This guy mostly does movies with his shirt off. You’ve never seen me do a movie with my shirt off. If I’m in a movie getting open heart surgery, I got on a sweater. Will Smith played Muhammad Ali in a movie. You think I auditioned for that part? He played Muhammad Ali. I played Pookie in New Jack City.” – Chris Rock in his Netflix comedy performance.
In a nutshell, there has never been a lawsuit filed by Chris against Will. Hence the $40million damages, paid by will to Chris are unfounded and untrue.
So did Will Smith pay Chris Rock $40 million in damages ? The answer is No! There’s no valid source that proves this claim right.
