To take us down memory lane, Nsikayesizwe David Junior Ngcobo, known professionally as Nasty C, is a popular young up and coming South African rapper who always gave a thumbs up to Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie, as he always heaped praises on him as one of the most prominent African rapper and one of his seniors in the rap game. However, Sarkodie seemingly did not pay attention to those praises as he never acknowledged the frequent praises by Nasty C, and this came across as if Sarkodie ignored and belittled Nasty C.
Fast forward, Sarkodie requested for the young rapper join him to do a music collaboration for his song. Now, watching Sarkodie request for a collaboration from Nasty C, shows you how invincible most people often assume they are when they hit the spotlight or big stage. That is, until they need to collaborate or partner with someone they once snubbed and/or ignored.
One thing for sure is that Sarkodie did not envision the day would come when he would ask Nasty C for a collaboration, that is – until now that he’s having a taste of his own medicine. There is no doubt that Sarkodie is one of the most decorated African rappers from Ghana. Neither is there any doubt about Nasty C’s talent.
One fatal mistake most popular artists like Sarkodie make is that, they do not respectfully turn down a younger or a lesser known artist when the latter seeks a collaboration.
The question is, why do these popular artists always forget that “the young shall grow”?
Fame does not last forever, and no matter how relevant you think you are today, you will eventually need to give way subsequently for others. Whether you will be respected or not, depends on what respect you gave to the up and coming artists behind.
Both rappers have been at loggerheads over the past few weeks, dissing one another, and it is clear that the winner in this “battle” is Nasty C who has undeniably humbled Sakodie.
Do you think there will be a collabo between both artists, afterwards? 🤔
