Though she had started music a few years before her breakthrough, she transited from a choir singer to possibly the best thing that ever happened to Cameroonian music.
She started her professional journey with “No Hits No Records”. As talented as she was, the resources to have kept her therein, were not sufficient and she would get linked with Steven’s Music in 2013 where the magic all began. She officially became a Steven’s Music Entertainment singer and released her first single in 2014.

A song which up till now is still considered as the pace setter for her career. Her Journey might have appeared smooth, but relishing the pressure to be Cameroon’s most vibrant female act can only come with confidence, determination, as well as a good team.
Daphne’s first major featuring after penning for Steven’s Music, would be In 2016, with Cameroonian veteran #Makossa singer Ben Decca, a collabo which undeniably paved her way into the Francophone market.
While the hype was still on and hot, she released the biggest song of her career Calée in 2016, a song that made Daphne to spread her wings and fly across the globe. She is now the most bankable female artist of our generation at this time. Calée currently has 30 million views on YouTube.
Impressive singles Like “Promet Moi” and “Jusqu’a La Gars” were released at the same time after Calée. “Jusqu’à la gare” currently has 24 million views on YouTube and the list continues. She just recently got married and has a non-profit Organization aimed at empowering women and young girls called Be Woman by Daphne Black Empowered Woman. Despite all the inputting, fans are still worried about the star snubbing their request for an album. She has got a studio album to her name titled “Stay with Me” though.
Other questions that have popped, up is why she didn’t feature in Salatiel’s recently released album Africa Represented. Whatever teh case, it’s clear that Salatiel has been an immense contributor to Daphne’s successful career. May be she might feature in the subsequent one.
While we continue to enjoy a discography of many singles, while awaiting a project from the vocal sensation, there is still so much to expect from the most followed Cameroonian singer on Instagram. Her career has been a honeycomb with surplus honey to consume, but there is still very much expected from herself and her team. We stay woke as we await new music from her and possibly an album.
