Multi-award winning Cameroonian singer – Tzy Panchak, has released his second studio album called “God’s people”.
Tzy who recently parted ways with Blu Nation Recording after several years of exciting collaborations has released this album as a solo artist. The Nine-track album features a series of local artists, some new to the game and others established. Let’s all review the album together as we enjoy together.
COVER ART INTERPRETATION :
My interpretation might not be accurate but I’m really curious. Tzy’s album Cover is a controversial recreation of the feast of ascension poster by Gebhard Fugel, 1993, which is unclear what it means in the artist’s context. Knowing that ascension day comes 39 days after Easter, which is a day celebrated worldwide by Christians for the resurrected Jesus, I’m trying to understand what Tzy is trying to convey.
Also knowing that the artist recently parted ways with his record Label, we’re not aware of what transpired behind the scenes, and what the singer dealt with before returning to the studio to give us an album. Does it mean they tried to kill his dream, or have other people tried but have fialed and he keeps coming back to life ? Many questions to advance…
Let’s leave the questions and listen to the album together, maybe we’ll find the right answer.
1. TZY PANCHAK FT RAIZY – “GOD IS LOVE” PROD. BY SKOOLBEATZ
“God is Love” is the first track from the album featuring uprising cameroonian afrobeat star – Raizy . The singers use this track to acknowledge the almighty God and his Grace. The track is free-flowing with Panchack affirming in his heart that God is love. “Somehow we all come from the same place and we’re going to the same place” where is the lie ? We all are just passing on earth. It’s important to love and support one another while we’re here. This is deservingly the rightful track to introduce the album; more interestingly because Tzy patronized Raizy, a talent he had always said was going to be a major superstar.
2. TZY PANCHAK – “ONLY YOU“
“Only You” is the second track from “God’s People” produced by Teddy Beatz. Tzy is advancing love to a woman he believes is his last bus stop. He affirms that there’s no other girl but her who has clipped his wings. The good thing about this track is that it’s smooth. It’s one of my favorites as it’s soulful and calm. The backup singer did awesome to give the track another feel which I immediately fell in love with. This would be a relatable piece for most people in love. It’s Only you who can tell me how you feel listening to this.
3. TZY PANCHAK – “MOVES” prod. By TEDDY BEATZ
“I’m making moves, nodi waste my time” – as we move from track to track, the tempo begins to change. “Moves” is definitely a party hit, even though Tzy uses it to pass other messages. He affirms he’s making moves and has got no time to waste. It’s unclear who this is directed to, but yeah, it’s 2024 and no one is out here to waste their time with people who’re not taking their own time seriously. Tzy also distances himself from bad energy and assumes he can neither be paid nor stopped from pursuing his art
“I no want your problem, I’ve got my own. You don’t need to pay me, I love this sh*t, you can’t stopped me, I be dong already move” – Tzy
The singer also mentions two alcoholic brands that he represents “Bellaire” and “Mbumbu” which he says are always available for his parties when them b*tches turn up. Tzy is a night bird and it’s obvious that he’s always got it. The song is produced by Abz-Trumental.
4. TZY PANCHAK FT KRYS M – ANTENNA
Tzy and Krys M, bring back a nostalgic feeling of Iyanya’s “One Side” in “Antenna”
Besides the fact that it sounds like the aforementioned track, it’s nothing short of another smooth track. Krys M did justice with her vocals. To crown it all, she also delivered her flow in English instead of the usual French. This makes the track a bit more special. I don’t know about you but I love this particular song especially considering the Cameroonian way of expressing love by both artists. It’s Produced by SKOOL BEATZ
5. TZY X INNOSS’B X MINK’S – JAMAIS
“Jamais” which means “Never” is track 5 of “God’s People” and it features Congolese hit sensation – Innoss’B and Cameroonian rapper Mink’s . The track reminds music lovers that in life, we never know what tomorrow brings. Anyone’s life can change at anytime. So don’t look down on them.
Innoss’B stepped out of his usual vibe and blended the track with some Lingala that gave the track another feel. It’s not one of those extensive tracks, but it’s a great commercial collaboration.
6. TZY PANCHAK – LONELY prod. By Teddy Beatz
Tzy early draws inspiration from Akon’s hit song “Lonely” as well as Iyaz’s “Melody in my head” to deliver a beautiful flow with Track 6. There’s truly nothing too special about this one in terms of lyrics and creativity. But then, I love the song, Lol. Funny enough, it’s been on repeat for the most time.
7. TZY FT BLANCHE BAILLY – LA BLAGUE prod. By SKOOLBEATZ
After collaborating in “Jaloux”, both artists return with “La Blague” which in my opinion still has an old vibe, this time of Beyoncé’s “Single Ladies”. Blanche clearly drew inspiration from Beyoncé to express that if a man wants her, he must be ready to put a ring on it. This collaboration in terms of creativity given the quality of artists involved makes it a normal track.
8. TZY PANCHAK FT TENOR – NEVER FALL
This is by far one of the best if not the best track from this album produced by Abztrumental. The Instrumentation is topnotch. The song features one the finest rappers in the continent – Tenor. The switch in the Instrumental when Tenor comes in is just mind-blowing. Now this is what we mean by creativity and originality. This is like nothing we’ve heard before… even the saxophone spices the song too.
The message is relatable as well. An affirmation by the artists that they’ll never fall despite all the hurdles and struggles. I’ll rate this track 9/10. I’m keeping one because I wouldn’t want to rush to crown it a 10/10.
9. TZY X ABZTRUMENTAL X CLEO GRAE – “GOD’S PEOPLE “
The 9th track of “God’s People” features Producer and singer Abztrumental and Rapper Cleo Grae. Well, Cleo and Tzy know each other very well, and the chemistry between the three artists isn’t geographical.
The song is special because it’s the album title and defines exactly what the album is all about. “Becareful how you treat people who bounce back from things that were meant to destroy them; they’re God’s People”
Tzy is expressing in this song that that he’s been through thick and thin and has bounced back from everything that was meant to kill him. I guess we can now go back to the album Cover. He affirms himself as God’s People. “Them dong shoot me tire”
Abztrumental and Cleo Grae couldn’t give us a better verses on this. Their verses were succinct and they stayed within the song’s description. It’s a beautiful collaboration, one of my favorites too!
OBSERVATIONS AND REMARKS
From Tzy Panchak’s latest album, we can conclude that collaborating with other artists and sharing his spotlight with them is something the singer masters. He’s just a People’s person. He didn’t only bring on Raizy, but he also used only Cameroonian artists except for Innoss’B. He used only Cameroonian producers in this body of work, a sign that he believes and trust in what Cameroon has got.
We can confirm that this album was released as a solo album by the artist and he is quite ready for his new independent journey.
RATING : The album might have drawn inspiration from some other artists, but that’s not also a skill that everyone could Replicate. In all, Tzy’s second studio album is above “Good” I can confidently rate the album 8/10
