The UEFA Champions League is the most important football competition in Europe. Every year, the best clubs from different countries play against each other to become the champions of Europe. This year, two exciting matches took place in the quarter-finals: Real Madrid vs Arsenal and Inter Milan vs Bayern Munich. Both matches were full of action, goals, and surprises. After two legs in each match, Arsenal and Inter Milan came out on top and qualified for the semi-finals.
Real Madrid vs Arsenal (1–2 in the second leg, 1–5 on aggregate)
Arsenal played an excellent game against Real Madrid and won 2–1 in the second leg at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium. This win completed a 5–1 total score over two games, which means Arsenal knocked Real Madrid out of the tournament. The match was exciting from the beginning. Bukayo Saka scored the first goal for Arsenal, giving them an early lead. Real Madrid’s star player Vinícius Jr. scored to make the match level again, but Arsenal stayed strong. Late in the game, Gabriel Martinelli scored the second goal for Arsenal to make it 2–1.
Real Madrid tried their best to come back into the game. They even thought they had a penalty, but it was canceled after the referee checked with the video assistant referee (VAR). This was a big disappointment for the team and their fans. In the end, Arsenal played better across both matches and deserved the win. This result is also very important because it is the first time since the 2008–2009 season that Arsenal have reached the semi-finals of the Champions League.
Inter Milan vs Bayern Munich (2–2 in the second leg, 4–3 on aggregate)
Another very close match happened between Inter Milan and Bayern Munich. The second leg ended in a 2–2 draw, but because Inter had won the first leg, they advanced to the next round with a total score of 4–3. Bayern Munich started the game well, and their striker Harry Kane scored the first goal. That gave Bayern hope to come back in the tie. But Inter Milan responded quickly. Their captain, Lautaro Martínez, scored a strong goal to level the match. After that, former Bayern player Benjamin Pavard scored for Inter, making the game 2–1.
Even though Eric Dier scored a late goal for Bayern to make it 2–2, it was not enough. Bayern were eliminated, and Inter Milan moved on to the semi-finals. This is a big achievement for Inter, as it is the second time in three seasons that they have reached the semi-finals. The players showed great character and teamwork during the match, and the fans at the San Siro stadium were very proud.
Now that Arsenal and Inter Milan have qualified, both teams are preparing for their next big matches in the semi-finals.
Arsenal will face Paris Saint-Germain (PSG). This will be a very exciting match because both teams are full of young and talented players. Arsenal will play the first leg at their home stadium, the Emirates, and then travel to France for the second leg at PSG’s Parc des Princes. The dates for the matches will be announced soon, but fans all over the world are already excited.
Inter Milan will play against Barcelona in the other semi-final. This is another big match between two strong teams with a lot of history in the Champions League. The two teams will fight for a place in the final, and both clubs believe they can win. Inter will need to play very well if they want to beat Barcelona, but their recent performances show they are ready.
