Meet Melanie Fonda, originally from the Bangwa tribe in the South West Region of Cameroon. We first noticed Melanie as one of the contestants for the Miss Cameroon USA 2017 competition. Though she did not win, she came up closely as the 2nd Princess (2nd runner up). Not bad for the young lady who was only 19 or 20 years old at the time.
The University student who currently lives in the US with her family and majors in performing arts will do whatever it takes to pursue her dream career of being a model and actress. Although she did not win the title of Miss Cameroon USA 2017, this did not discourage her from wanting to chase her dreams.
To find out what she has been up to, THJ reached out to Melanie as we also wanted to know if and how her life had changed as a result of partaking in the Miss Cameroon USA 2017 competition and here’s what she had to say:
“The Miss Cameroon USA second princess opened door ways for me to kick start my career as a model. Couldn’t do much with title mostly because of the situation back home. I’m in school for performing arts and my dream is to be a successful model and actress.”
We wish Melanie all the best and we hope that she can follow in the footsteps of former pageant winners from Cameroon like Valerie Ayena who won the Miss Cameroon 2013 title and who now has a very successful career as an international runway and editorial model.
