Much to the dismay of many of her Cameroonian Anglophone fans, Blanche Bailley still went ahead and released her new single “Dinguo” on September 29th, 2017. A notable blogger called her (and LOCKO who also released his new single one September 29th) out for this on Facebook and it sparked a high outlash from many. Many people commented negatively and said that both Blanche and Locko have lost them as fans as they decided to “ignore the Anglophone crises” aka “The Struggle” in Cameroon by releasing their songs on a day when many were rioting and some allegedly got killed.
Despite all the commotion and fans show their disapproval of Dinguo’s release date, it doesn’t seem to have greatly affected her number of views to the Lyrics Video on YouTube as in a week, the Dinguo lyrics video already had 23K views! If the numbers continue to grow steadily then Balnches lyrics video can hit 100K by the end of October which is not bad at all for just a lyrics video. Imagine how many views the actual video will get! Aaaaand the comments from viewers (most of which are in French)… clearly indicate those who watched it! Sooo the question is does it matter if Anglophone artist should who sing in French and have French speaking fans loose Anglophone fans? Hmmmm… well the numbers don’t lie oh is all ‘my sayin’! Maybe in Blanche’s mind and from an artist perspective she might be thinking “To all those who complained about my song release date… HOW MARKET”?! Just sayin…
