Singer Blanche Bailly has given possible reasons why she hasn’t won major awards yet and why she thinks they will come soon. While speaking on on Beta Torpoh talk show with Clarisse Ndinge, Blanche Bailly explained that one of the reasons she thinks she hasn’t won any major awards like Canal D’Or and AFRIMA is because the African society relates artistic image with hard work.
As such, most voters don’t really vote the most hardworking or most talented, but the ones who appear more descent to them. She also explained that she doesn’t do giveaways not because she’s selfish but simply because she doesn’t have.
She believes she can make more money than she does, if fans can develop the habit of buying and streaming music, a gesture that will contribute to an artist’s financial growth and hence permit them to have what to give to fans (giveaways). For now, the little they make, they try to keep up to standards by making good videos as well as other demands. She reiterates that she can’t give what she doesn’t have.
On why some artists don’t succeed to produce hit songs, Blanche explained that she believes most artists need to start opening up to some music experts who have already made it in the music industry, especially when they (the artist) has a song they have to release. According to her, most artists miss out on opportunities to do better because they’re afraid of their songs being “Stolen”.
In the end, Blanche thinks her ability to make hits is a gift. Shows respect to artists like Magasco, and singer/music producer Phillbill who has worked with her to produce several hit songs for her. She revealed that she writes all her songs with the exception of two songs that were written by Mister Elad (who wrote her first song “Cam We Stay” and CFX who contributed in writing “Mes Respects”.
