Recent reports from credible media outlets confirm significant resignations within the Cameroonian Football Federation (FECAFOOT) amid ongoing controversies.
Martin Ndtoungou Mpile and David Pagou, recently appointed by FECAFOOT to succeed Marc Brys in preparation for the World Cup qualifiers in June, have formally stepped down amidst escalating tensions.
Before a press conference held by FECAFOOT on Thursday, May 30th, these resignations were announced. The interim coaches were anticipated to conduct interviews and disclose the players selected for the forthcoming matches against Cape Verde and Angola.
While the two individuals submitted their resignations, Marc Brys, who had been previously removed from his position, has once again been called upon by FECAFOOT for further discussions. Consequently, following the resignations of David Pagou and Martin Ndtoungou Mpile, Marc will reassume coaching responsibilities.
The ongoing conflict between the Ministry of Sports and the Federation has reignited, leaving fans embroiled in the midst of turmoil. On May 29, 2024, David Pagou was transferred to work in the Eastern region of Cameroon shortly after his appointment by the Federation. Many interpreted this transfer as a way of nullifying his appointment.
Currently, Marc Brys has been summoned by the Federation, though it remains unclear whether he will attend the meeting at the Federation’s headquarters following the events of May 28.
