With just a few more days left before we say good bye to 2021, what a challenging year it’s been for the music industry in Cameroon and for Stevens Music in particular. We might be rushing to say that 2021 is not one of the years the record label would keep in their books given their below par output or near numbness in the music industry.
Some might argue that some of Stevens Music’s artists such as Daphne and Boy Tag released a few singles, however with a label of their calibre, which raised the level of the contemporary industry to what it’s been all these years, you would be gutted at their output in 2021. It’s a good thing their third female singer Ewube ticked present before 2021 disappeared from our memories.
Ewube welcomed BBOY Records CEO and singer Magasco in her latest song, titled “Comme Ça” – translated into English as “Like This”. We are wondering whether this sumptuous piece which sees the diva, delve yet again into what many music lovers consider her “thing”; Dancehall! Until now, Cameroonians still find it hard to accord the “Queen of Dancehall” title to another woman, if it’s not Ewube!
She’s a complete singer, an electrifying dancer with tempting moves which you can see in most of her clips. Ewube’s unique dark sun kissed skin tone and her sweet angelic vocals, makes her one of the most seductive singers without any doubt. Her mastery in music coupled with her ability to smash any beat serves her versatility on a platter.
It’s because of all these musical components that she equals, that make us to keep on wondering why she isn’t where she’s supposed to be. This has been a recurring question as far as the queen of the town of friendship (Limbe) is concerned. Can “Comme Ça” help her escape the shackles?
Magasco and Ewube on a song – a dancehall song again? That should be a killer collabo, and you’d be shocked that it only has 20,000 streams in four days which is way lower than expected. It disrespectful to their talent. Honestly, Ewube can’t keep dangling around 200,000 and 300,000 streams-tier year in and year out – and no, this isn’t throwing shade at the singer at all. These are words from unsatisfied fans who thin she deserves more!
Ewube inviting Magasco on this song is a charmer. If this song could just garner her a million views or streams, it will be a lighter or catalyst to her career, and she might just escape the shackles! “Comme Ça” draws inspiration from one of Brick & Lace beats, which in the course of listening, sounds like Magasco’s “fire” featuring Shan’l, that’s at first hearing and there’s no crime in that!
It’s a festive season jam that, if promoted rightly, could really make a difference in the former’s career, that songs like “Compliquer” which was sat on didn’t make.
Magasco is a priceless jewel to the Cameroonian music industry and together with Ewube they did justice to the Mageek Feengaz inspiration. Magasco has been seen pushing that song back-to-back on his social media pages and it’s that kind of love we want to see when singers collaborate.
Ewube needs to leave the diva behavior behind and start connecting more with her fans by interacting with them andshould sometimes do live sessions on her social media platforms to establish a personal relationship with them. She’s been doing that lately, commenting and appreciating people promoting her song and we believe it will add more sauce to the rice.
Pretty good choreographic skills by Ewube who always had fun damncing around. Her impeccable choreographers are a highlight of the video! Video is directed by Dr. Nkeng Stephens.
