Just as impressive as this years fashion display on the Red Carpet, was the show itself with 15 time GRAMMY winner Alicia Keys as host. This was Key’s first time hosting the GRAMMY’s. During the show she played on two piano’s back to back which reminded us of piano prodigy, the late Hazel Scott. This year some of the biggest winners walking away with three or more awards were Childish Gambino who was noticeably absent to take all his awards but who won four whopping awards including Song and Record of the Year and Lady Gaga who walked away with three awards.
Cardi B who won her first award, was visibly taken aback as she gave her very emotional winning speech. Ever since Cardi has stormed into the music scene, the rapper has been on a constant roller coaster ride and topic of discussion with her less than perfect English, her constant use of cuss words, her from her ongoing beef with rivalry Nikki Minaj, to her public “break-up” from her husband over cheating allegations back in 2018, to now winning her very first GRAMMY (she was also nominated twice at the GRAMMY’s 2018) which in itself has been the topic for debate among die-hard hip hop fans, many of who are in support of her winning while many who are fans of Nikki think Nikki was more deserving of it.
Additionally, Cardi not only won her first GRAMMY Award but she also made history as being the first female to win a GRAMMY for Best Rap Album. Now how about that as a clap back. Here is the complete list of winners at this year’s GRAMMY:
