Hello THJ readers! This week in sports news… If you are an avid sports fan who loves tennis and or horse racing, I’m sure you have already stumbled upon the rants that went on via Twitter over the last few days! To make a long story short, Sport Illustrated nominates athletes every year for the Sportsperson of the Year award. This year Serena Williams and a famous thoroughbred racehorse called American Pharoah (yup even animals who partake in sports qualify lol) were both nominated and although American Pharoah won the votes over Serena by a wide range, Serena was given the Sportsperson Award. What I find a bit strange is how personal people are taking this. Oh well I guess any animal is better deserving than Queen Serena right (being sarcastic)! CONGRATULATIONS to you Serena! This award is VERY well deserved!!
