The day has finally come… Election Day. Today October 7th, 2018, millions of Cameroonians will be taking to the Polls to VOTE for their President. This years election is very different from previous years in that, it is occuring during a time when the Francophones from La Republique of Cameroon at seeming at war with the Anglophones from the North West and South West Regions (collectively known as Southern Cameroon and also dubbed as Ambazonia by Ambazonia leaders). Below are the 9 candidates who will are running for the Presidency.
According to Africanewscom, Presidential candidate Akere Muna withdrew his candidacy within 48 hours to election day to join forced with Kamto Maurice. Given this alleged coalition, will the number of votes from Muna/Kamto supporters be enough to prevent President Paul Biya from serving a 7th term or will there need to be an additional candidate needed to join? Many people speculated that were a coalition to take place, it would most likely be between Cabral, Osih and Kampto or Muna, Osih and Kampto with Kampto in both scenerios being the most likely one from the coalition to run for President. When it comes to politics, anything is possible.
However, people are also speculating that President Paul Biya will win again so all these coalitions mean nothing. This is where we say “don’t bet your money that anyone else other than the current President will win or you will most likely loose“.
