Singer Meshi was live on the “Chit Chat with MC Charlene” show via Instagram last night where she revealed how she tried to have as many female artists as possible feature on her album but most of them turned her offer to have them on her album down with excuses. Some of the female artists she mentioned were Nabila, Daphne Njie, Vernyuy Tina and Rinyu. It is unclear why Rinyu is on a hot seat even though others female artists were mentioned.
Meshi revealed that she allegedly reached out to Rinyu for a collaboration and Rinyu asked her to do a song and send for her to feel the songs vibe to decide whether or not she would jump on the track. This allegedly got Meshi angry. In her words, she said “Girl are you serious? I have more fans than you.”
The HotJem decided to reach out to Rinyu’s record label Akumba Music to get their own side of the story to ensure we did not only hear Meshi’s side of the story. However, contrary to Meshi’s side of the story which is trending on blogs, Rinyu’s team has denounced such allegations.
Akumba Music revealed that as an entity operating with their own rules and regulations, it would have been a pleasure for their artist to feature in Meshi’s album but all that was demanded by Akumba Music was a little bit of professionalism from both ends. The record label stated that the only thing they had requested from Meshi’s team (who wanted Rinyu to meet Meshi at the studio), was that Meshi should send the song for them to listen to. Requesting to listen to a song before having their artist take part in it is something Akumba Music finds normal in their business interactions with other artists.
If what Akumba Music’s team is saying is true, then it’s safe to conclude that Meshi’s team may have taken Akumba Music’s request to be offensive and took it the wrong way.
Rinyu is also working on her album and couldn’t be dispatched or displaced at random. Her Black Girl Magic album is pending release in 2021 and for every single artist who featured in it, a song was sent to them to listen to and decide whether or not they could feature in it.
Contrary to many disrespecful rumors and comments, it should be noted that Rinyu did not have any direct one-to-one chats with Meshi. Since coming to the spotlight, Rinyu has been very respectful of her colleagues and has stayed in her lane from day one and she has so far released good music and strives to becoming better with each song release like the Queen that she is.
Fast forward, after listening to Meshi talk to MC Charlene, the entire thing could maybe considered an ego trip from Meshi and her team, as Meshi might be feeling disrespected for possibly something that might have resulted from miscommunication between Rinyu and her team.
Akumba Music has expressed their desire to see the industry grow, even if it means collaborating with many other artists, but then, it must be done with mutual respect. This is why they’re very active with amazing artists like MUSS and Rinyu inclusive, showing respect where it’s due.
