On today’s edition of Gospel Ministers Across Africa, we focus attention on Dr. Tumi, a renowned South African gospel minister, who’s also a medical professional.
Born Tumishang Makweya, Dr Tumi is one of the most popular gospel musicians in South Africa. Born and raised in Limpopo, in the little town of Seshego, his interest in music can be attributed to the influence of his father, a South African priest. The influence of his father on him was so pronounced that at the age of 09, he was already learning and practicing the piano. This would later earn him the instrumentalist title when he began his music career.
His professional music career however, didn’t start early, as he had to pursue his medical career before eventaully launching his music career. After six years in medical school, he would go on to make his debut at 30.
Since then, he has consistently produced soul touching gospel songs and broken some records. He got married in 2008, to Kgaologelo who is also his manager. The couple have three children together.
He’s an inspirational sultry worship singer who has not been in the music industry for a long time, but has been impactful with his works and will continue to touch lives with his music.
Today, we recommend you one of his towering hits called “Nothing without you”
