Then in May 2020, she achieved another milestone by becoming the first African artist to top the Billboard Christian Songwriters chart. Two years later, she became one of the first gospel artist from Africa to join the Grammy Recording Academy as a voting member.

2. BENJAMIN DUBE (SOUTH AFRICA)
Not many pastors are musicians like Benjamin Dube, who stands as one of the foremost exporters of South African gospel music. Leading the High Praise Center in Johannesburg, he has been making significant contributions since 1980 and continues to strive in ministry.
Born in 1962, and a father of four, he has produced 15 career albums, several of which have reached gold and platinum status. In addition to his exceptional vocals, he is also proficient in piano and guitar, setting him apart from other musicians.
He has witnessed both the traditional and digital eras of music and has adapted with the times. While many artists from the previous era have struggled to maintain visibility in mainstream media, he remains highly acessible and ranls among the most streamed South African gospel ministers.
Growing in a gospel family that was renowned in South Africa for their church performances, Dube’s career began at the young age, starting as early as seven. What’s even more fascinating about his career is how intentional and consistent he has been with his recording and live performances. Dube’s YouTube channel has lots of uplifting songs that can make your day better.
