When God Calls and The Street Answers
In this episode of Gospel Ministers Across Africa, we highlight secular artists who have teamed up with gospel musicians – not just to make music, but to use their platforms for evangelism. In this edition, we’re focusing on Kocee, M.I Abaga, and more.
1. M.I Abaga ft Oriste Femi and Frank Edwards
It’s been 10 years since one of Africa’s biggest and most influential rappers, M.I Abaga – also known for having one of the most impressive discographies, invited Oriste Femi and Frank Edwards to collaborate on the track Chairman. A classic that continues to live rent-free in the minds of music lovers, the song glorifies and praises the Almighty God as the ‘Chairman.’ While it may not be one of the most streamed tracks, it is undeniably a timeless piece.
2. Kocee featuring KS Bloom
Rapper and singer Kocee, alongside Ivorian gospel rapper KS Bloom, have teamed up in 2025 to deliver a sizzling new track titled ‘Stranger.’
There’s no doubt that Kocee has been one of Cameroon’s finest and most consistent musicians over the past 10 years. Seeing the ‘Amen’ singer collaborate with one of the best Francophone gospel rappers highlights the power of unity in music. ‘Stranger’ explores the paradox of life, addressing how people often value others only after they’re gone, yet fail to treat them right while they’re still alive.
The song says we all are strangers and we will return to the creator just the way we come as we’d not take anything along with us, when it’s time. The song released about 10hours ago, has already amassed over 200,000 views at the time of this article.
3. Naffymar
Phebe Nafisa Umar, better known by her stage name Naffymar, is a remarkable urban music sensation from West London, with Ghanaian roots and Italian citizenship that enrich her diverse background. As a multifaceted artist, she is a songwriter, singer, and producer. Her musical journey has seen her grace numerous stages and platforms, delivering both original compositions and breathtaking renditions.
After graduating with a degree in Music Performance and Recording from the University of West London, Naffymar’s dedication to her craft led her to collaborate with exceptional artists, further broadening her creative horizons. Affectionately known as the ‘Gospel Amapiano Queen,’ Naffymar stands as a global pioneer in blending Amapiano music with a gospel message. From her EP House of God to her memorable collaboration with Glochi on the 2022 release ‘Paradise,’ Naffymar consistently showcases her extraordinary creative talents and innovative spirit, leaving no doubt that her music is a testament to her exceptional artistry.
