Gospel singer Frank Edwards is on a music streaming role. Just a few months ago, he received a plaque from Boomplay for achieving 20 million streams on its platform. Soon after he received one for 50 million streams and fast forward, he now has over 70 million streams on Boomplay.
Over the last year, Edwards has seen a spike in his number of streams and following on social media. I believe a lot of it also has to do with his high engagement as he actively engages with his followers on his social media platforms, especially on Facebook. It is not strange to see the gospel singer who currently has over 1 million followers on Facebook, replying to his followers and occasionally joking around with them in the comments section of his page and they love it!
This has helped him attract new fans and keep existing ones. Thus, growing his fanbase and spreading his music to a larger audience. One thing Edwards is good at is that he knows how to brand himself very well. He has been persistent and has for the most part consistently posted on a daily basis. His selling point is his humor and he is a great storyteller who occasionally makes jokes about himself, using story telling.
This helps to keep his fans engaged and not bored when he posts to his pages. One thing we love about Edwards is how he takes his fans along for the ride with him, from putting out behind the scenes footage of his musical production journey, to him performing during service.
One thing entertainers need to remember is that the energy you give out to your fans and followers is the same energy you will receive from them. Just because you have hundreds of thousands or millions of followers does not mean that they will automatically engage with you or your social media platform(s) or buy your music or any product you are selling. You need to be very present as peoples attention span in this digital era is close to zero. Why would they engage with you if you are not motivating them to?
Granted that imany at times it is very difficult to please fans, keep pushing, be true to yourself, interact with them more, and most importantly, be present and there’s a high chance you will achieve the positive results you are looking for some day.
