I do think as a ‘RAPPER’ you have to write your own lyrics to be in any conversation about the artistry of rap. By the way, hooks don’t count as lyrics. – Tuke
THJ: Are you signed to a record label? If no, do you plan to sign with one?
Tuke: Yes, I am signed under Thunder Storm Music which happens to be my label. I am not worried about getting signed except a lot of money is involved of course.
THJ: We see that your genre of music is Hip-Hop. Why Hip-Hip? Do you see yourself venturing into other genres of music in your future songs?
Tuke: Hip-Hop influences all urban cultures and because I love telling stories raw and uncut, only rap in my opinion can deliver that message the exact way I want it to be. I mean am a musician still on my creative journey. So yes, I’ve got a couple of songs that will not sound like tradition Tuke music, but I try to stay true to what I do. The sound could be different, but it will feel like Tuke.
THJ: We listened to Dream Chaser and Think They Know and for both songs, the messages are quite clear. What inspires your lyric’s, and do you write your own songs or do you have a writer?
Tuke: Every song or a verse I have written is connected to me; it could be past experiences, a story of someone I know or just something I thought of which I felt people will relate to.
I do think as a ‘RAPPER’ you have to write your own lyrics to be in any conversation about the artistry of rap. Btw hooks don’t count as lyrics.
THJ: Interesting to know that hooks don’t count as lyrics. Are the songs mentioned above a reflection of your real life or not?
Tuke: Those two mentioned songs (Dream Chaser and Think They Know) are about me but for the sake of artistry and personal considerations some lines were exaggerated or watered down.
THJ: What other songs do you have out there that we haven’t seen on your social media platforms? Are you working on an album, EP or what? When can we expect a full-blown album from you?
Tuke: I stay in the studio and I’ve got a lot of songs. If it was just about the music, I have music worth more than 3 albums but it takes a little more. For now, I am just getting ready finding my place but I promise to release music and visuals more frequently now and it’s not crazy to have an EP out this year so fingers crossed.
