It is no news that we live in a “racist” world where some people are forced to body shamed and made to look irrelevant in their own societies which in turn makes them go zeros. They begin to live with a stigma for as long as there is no one coming for them.
WHAT IS STIGMA?
Stigma can be defined as a mark of disgrace associated with a particular circumstance, quality, or person.
We go though this almost everyday of our lives. It’s either a white man is racially abusing and drifting away from a black man or a black man distancing from albinos. However, if you still have a problem living with albinos then you don’t ever have to complain about racism. You are fueling the outrageous practice.
Because of stigmatization, some young men and women are found nowadays bleaching their skin to gain a lighter “so called perfect” skin. However, there are some people, who no matter how the fight against racism is, like albinos, who still get rejected and snubbed most often and in this generation, it should already be clear to some people who still downgrade these people (Albinos) that we are in another era.
There was a time especially in countries like Tanzania, where albinos were killed upon birth. Albinos did not make themselves the way they are and have no control over their genotypic makeup so why are they being treated badly?
A young girl back in 2017 by name Juma, told her story about Stigmatisation and how she lived all her life in fear. Just like in rape cases, sometimes the best way you can express your fear is to speak out.
