Aliko Dangote, Nigeria’s wealthiest individual and CEO of the Dangote Group of companies, has surprised the world by revealing that he does not own any properties outside Nigeria.
The billionaire businessman possesses only two residences: one in his hometown of Kano and another on Banana Island in Lagos. He has disclosed that his residence in Abuja is a rented apartment.
At 66 years old, his decision not to invest in properties abroad is driven by his dedication to focusing on business within Nigeria. His recent accomplishment includes the inauguration of the largest oil refinery on the continent, valued at $20 billion, which underscores his commitment to developing business within his home country.
It’s worth noting that he sold his house in Lagos in 1996 to concentrate on business ventures back home.
“The reason why I don’t have a London or house in America is solely because I wanted to focus on industrialization in Nigeria” said Dangote
“I am very passionate about the Nigerian Dream and apart from my Lagos house, I have another in my home state, Kano, and a rented one in Abuja. If I have houses all over, in America and co, I wouldn’t be able to concentrate and build something for my people” – he added.
The chairman of the Dangote Group of Companies disclosed this information during his media briefing at his refinery on Sunday.
