We are back with our STREET @AFRICANA “Where everything is African” series and our first interview spotlight of the year is Nigerian Pop-African Music Artist – Ric Hassani, popularly known for his 2012 hit single “Dance Dance Baby Dance” who has been off the musical scene for a while now after releasing his last music video for “Double Double”. Caught up with many other projects at hand and with numerous fans asking for more music, THJ had to meet with him and ask him for updates on his Musical career. He revealed that he is currently working on his album and he will be releasing a Music video very very soon! Check out the interview below;
THJ: It’s been a long time coming Ric. Why the delay to release new music ?
Ric Hassani: We (Me and my manager Samuel Igwe) have been having some label restructuring. So we had to get that done first before moving forward. But I have been recording and there is a lot of great music we have for the fans, we are very excited.
THJ: Nice … So what current musical projects do you have going on ??
Ric Hassani: I have shot the video of “Gentleman” (Listen to the Audio HERE, if you have not, already) and i am currently working on my Album. Great Stuff coming …
THJ: What inspired you to do the ‘Gentleman’ song ?
Ric Hassani: To be honest it wasn’t like a girl or nothing haha. We were just in the studio my producer and I, and then I came up with a tune and hummed it to him and when we started creating, the word “Gentleman” just came into my head and I decided to build a story around it about how a good woman should deserve a gentleman and that men should treat women better. And then of course my producer Doron Clinton is amazing, and we just made it.
THJ: Hahaha ok. One would have thought you were inspired by a girl or something. What should fans expect in the video and your upcoming album ?
Ric Hassani: The video tells the story of the song from a very, important perspective that I feel isn’t addressed enough. I’m really excited for it and I hope people get the message in the video. Then the album is looking good. We are very happy with the music we have been recording. I think we are going to put out a Pre-tape or an EP before the album but, my team and I are still thinking up the best way to go. But we are all excited for ourselves and for the fans.
There you have it guys, our awesome lil’ chit chat with the amazing and fashion driven Ric Hassani. Oooh and ladies… Did we mention that he is single too? Oh well he is sooooo… 🙂 😉
