Like a gladiator, Kang Quintus is killing every fear in the hearts of investors in the entertainment industry. Who ever thought it would take a boy from Wum, to open doors that looked like they would never open?
From Cameroon to Nigeria, Kang Quintus went to Antwerp, Belgium where he obtained a double Masters Degree and a PhD. With the aim to make Cameroonian’s dream again, he eventually returned to his country, Cameroon, to execute his long term projects. One of these long term projects was the filming of the movie The Fishermans Diary, flat has been not just a door opener, but an unquenchable focal point of discussion.
Popularly known as Star Way or Method Actor, his branding game is quite ‘high definition’. He has mastered the art of branding and publicity to his finger tips and understands that to attract the big sponsors and investors, your brand must standout. What your brand regenerates for these investors and sponsors is also an attraction. These are areas he has mastered very well.
From having a movie (The Fisherman’s Diary) which is said to have achieved the following: won over 87 awards globally, had 78 festival selections, had 134 nominations, and picked up a preselection at the Academy Awards, to securing deals with Orange Cameroon and Netflix, are some of the highlights of his brilliant marketing skills. The Fisherman’s Diary is also one of the first Cameroonian movies to stream on Netflix.
Although Kang Quintus is not the first to pave the way forward for the movie industry, as we cannot forget the efforts of key movie industry stakeholders like Prince Agbor Gilbert who runs the yearly Cameroon International Film Festival and many others stakeholders, Kang’s marketing savviness has helped to open the eyes of young Cameroonian actors, actresses and filmmakers to believe that they too can now make movies believing that there is a market to sell them.
Right now, he is already on to another movie project, with its title set to be revealed later today. Also worth mentioning is the Kang Quintus Hub, a building which is nearing completion. Here, all activities like movie and music production and other affairs around his activities will be executed therein.
Away from movies, he is hijacking the music industry from another angle with Kang Quintus Music, his record label, with Remii as the only artist on the label right now. He has not only reignited the fire in many Cameroonian youths, but he has also made many believe that the future is bright.
Many of the actors and actresses who were a part of “The Fisherman’s Diary” have had exclusive opportunities to showcase themselves. the movies youngest lead actress Faith Fidel and supporting actress Ndamo Damarise have all been to Nigeria for movie projects ever since the movies release. In his own little way, Kang can be seen as a generation saver. An inspiration that home is home, and it will be even more beautiful if we rebuild to what we want it to be.
In a nutshell, Kang Quintus has made us, and is still making us believe yet again, that all dreams are valid, and there’s absolutely nothing that can’t be achieved if education, patience and finances are carefully employed to achieve it. In his words… “Work Dey” which means there is work to do.
