South African singer Tyla makes history as she graces the cover of V Magazine’s latest issue, released on July 23rd, 2024. The 22-year-old Grammy Award-winning star rose to fame last year with her breakthrough hit song “Water,” catapulting her to stardom.
The track not only topped multiple charts and amassed over half a billion listeners but also earned the Johannesburg native her first Grammy Award on her debut attempt.
Tyla’s rapid rise to fame left many music fans skeptical, as some considered her a one-hit wonder. However, she silenced doubters with the release of her debut body of work titled “Tyla,” propelling her toward continued success.
She won two BET Awards for “Best New Act 2024” and “Best International Act 2024.”
As her influence grows, major brands are also taking notice. V Magazine, a renowned American fashion publication established in 1999, has featured the South African singer on the cover of its latest issue.
In an interview with the magazine, Tyla shared her lifelong passion for both fashion and music, emphasizing that it has been a dream of hers since childhood.
“I’ve loved fashion and music since I was young” – she stated.
While several sources are reporting that the “Water” singer was paid roughly $200,000 to cover for the magazine, the results have been imminent as the original post on Instagram has quickly hit 1000,000+ likes in under Eight hours ( at the time of making this publication)
Tyla is recognized as one of the hottest African singer globally at the moment, as she continues to rise to prominence.
