In celebration of Black History month, I wanted to make sure I highlighted a few blacks whom I think have been an inspiration to the black community in one way or another! Kerry Washington is one of those especially for many aspiring black female actresses!

Kerry Washington has a lot to be grateful for this new mom graces the cover of the March edition of InStyle magazine (the digital edition is available now). Her seemingly flawless character (style-wise) – Olivia Pope on Scandal has set the bar high for most leading female characters on prime time TV and has gotten many fashion editorial creating a section of their online magazine dedicated to analyzing Olivia Pope’s outfits every week after each Scandal episode! Kerry Washington is one of my fashion inspirations for this month and as her style not only graces the biggest designer names from Gucci, Balenciaga, Ferragamo, Prada, and Valentino to name a few, but because as a black woman she has created a name for herself in an industry whose leading female characters are typically dominated by Caucasian women.

She is a woman of color and has a leading role in a mega hit show on ABC that is watched by approximately (and amazingly) 13.9 million viewers every week which shows that that being black is not whack! It is also refreshing to see a black female leading character being bombarded with all the top designers that would make any fashion driven debutante drool with envy! Here are some of my favorite pictures of Kerry from the March edition of InStyle. Who inspires you? xoxo… ME
