African comedian and master of ceremonies Kwoh Betah Elonge, popularly known comically as Auntie Felicia, has been in the United States, doing what he knows how to do bestentertaining his fans, making connections, and living his dream.
Elonge’s emergence as a prominent figure in Cameroonian entertainment, rather than just a behind-the-scenes contributor, has been a fulfilling journey. His significant impact in the contemporary industry, particularly as a skit maker, has not only advanced his own career but also opened doors for many of his colleagues, thanks to his ability to leverage his extensive network.
In addition to his role as Auntie Felicia the entertainer, Kwoh also works as a master of ceremonies (MC). While he has been headlining some high-profile events in 2024, he recently disclosed a list of international events for which he has been booked between 2024 and 2026.
“It’s still mid-2024, and I’ve already been booked as an MC for events in Singapore and Santorini, Greece in 2025, and surprisingly, another in the Philippines in 2026,” Elonge said.
He added that while these opportunities might seem like luck, they are actually the result of hard work and strategic effort.
“You don’t get that by just being lucky. You work hard, learn from mistakes, grow, network and deliver! Success is on the field, not in the comment sections. Be so good that people wish you long life.” – He added.
Without sugarcoating, he has been the most booked entertainer from Cameroon over the past year as Auntie Felicia and has consistently delivered.
What makes Kwoh stand out is his ability to adapt to changing times. Despite his remarkable oratory skills and comic talent, he is always learning new things to enhance his performance. For example, he has dedicated much of his time in recent years to improving his dance moves, adding a new level of sophistication and humor to his acting and MCing.
Against all odds, the former Elections Cameroon worker, who dedicated at least 10 years to public service while also pursuing further education, is one of the few PhD holders in the entertainment industry in his country. He demonstrates that education is indeed valuable and not a ‘scam.’
Dr. Kwoh, who also works as a researcher and writer, has come a long way. It’s fair to say he has truly risen from grass to grace.
