Nigerian artists have been on top of the world with Afrobeats. Artists like Burna Boy, Wizkid, Davido, Rema, etc, have ever since changed the narrative of how the world perceives African music. Below are some of the popular shows that have been headlined by Nigerian artists.
BURNA BOY – CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FINAL:
On June 10th, 2023, Burna Boy became the first Nigerian and the first African artist to headline the Champions League final performance as an artist. Burna Boy threw an unforgettable performance before the finals between Manchester City and Inter Milan. It’s reported that “The African Giant ” made about $1,000,000 from his performance.
BURNA BOY – GRAMMY AWARD CEREMONY:
At the 2023 Grammy Award ceremony, Burna Boy still became the first African artist to perform at the event. The Afrobeat sensation, who was nominated in four categories, threw yet another mind-blowing performance, despite not wining in any category. Burna Boy’s performance has been ranked No.6. best performance by Billboard. He was accompanied on stage by Brandy and 21 Savage.
REMA – BALLON D’OR CEREMONY:
On October 31st, 2023, Marvin Records/ Jonzing Records artist: Rema, became the first African artist to Perform at a Ballon D’or ceremony. Rema performed his global chart-breaking hit “Calm Down” infront of soccer superstars, and proceeded to shaking hands with many of them. Rema was cheered by the likes of soccer legend, Didier Drogba and co… It was revealed that the Nigerian made about $1,000,000 from his cameo appearance. Lionel Messi went on to beat Kylian Mbappé and Erling Halland, to win his 8th Ballon D’or.
DAVIDO – WORLD CUP PERFORMANCE:
David Adeleke better known as Davido, made history in 2022 when he joined a selected bandwagon of global artists to perform at the closing ceremony of the world cup in Qatar. Davido, who had just lost his son, was still able to thrill the crowd with his performance.
KIZZ DANIEL – WORLD CUP PERFORMANCE:
Kizz Daniel was one of the Nigerian artists to perform at the 2022 FIFA WORLD CUP. On November 26th 2022, Kizz Daniel performed his viral hit “Buga” infront of over 50.000 fans at the FIFA WORLD CUP fans’ festival.
