The course would rally pediatricians and midwives across the Littoral region for two days, teaching them the basics and importance of good nutrition in children (infants), as well as trained them on how to combat malnutrition. It all started in the central Region of the country and then moved to the Littoral region.
Trainees after they completed the training, were awarded and issued certificates signed by the NNI at the end of the two days course,permitting them to take the knowledge they had acquired to their various areas and beyond, where they would be expected to teach others and organise health and nutrition seminars with the goal of aliviating malnutrition.
The aim/objective of this course (CANUP) by NNI, organized in the towns of Yaounde on February 19 to 20 and the city of Douala on February 26 – 27 respectively, is to use professional medical personnels who will be able to better counsel parents about goodnutrition practices needed by infants.
The Nestlè Nutrition Institute (NNI), for a period of four days in Cameroon, through a unique African course for Child Health care professionals, conducted by leading experts with high level scientific modules, adapted to the African context of continuous medical training, through practical activities (growth chartsmanagement and Nutrition Counseling, successfully trained a total of eighty-four (84) health professionals, thirty-nine (39) in Douala and 45 in Yaounde respectively.
