I will know I’m successful when I can earn something from this gift to give back to the society I come from. Nobody was there for me so I must be there for them.
THJ: It’s great that you are getting more educated in the music industry as a craft and business. Do record labels really have their artists best interest or are they out to use them to make money? Do you think Jovi and Stanley Enow really have or had beef or do you think its a publicity stunt?
Tirajai: Some record labels don’t really have their artist’s interest cos most of them don’t care to listen to and try to understand the artist’s vision but impose what they want them to put out there irrespective of the image the artist wants to build. They just want him to be anything that brings money and drop him when people have had enough but some labels understand that sometimes you need to first listen to what the artist wants then see the possible ways you can add anything to it guide them and make the money while he is satisfied and proud of his/her work. About Jovi and Stanley Enow, I think they might not really be in good terms but the media makes it look worse than it is.
THJ: Being in the music industry, you see a lot of women both in and out of Africa showing up on music videos half naked most of the time. Why is this so? Can a song not be sold without having half naked women dancing around with almost nothing?
Tirajai: It’s more of business now than anything. Where there is no original talent, they will always find something to replace that with irrespective of what it is if it brings money. But there is an artistic way of putting naked women in your videos which depicts a great form of art.
THJ: Are you single or not? What is your type of woman? Light skinned, straight hairs etc? 🙂
Tirajai: Nope. I’m in a relationship and I don’t really have a preference cos experience made me understand you could find love in strange places.
