Gossiping can start like this… Hey girl, let me tell you this gist that someone told me, who heard it from her coworker who also heard it from her friend!
The person who is telling her friend what she heard from someone else who also heard it from another person has changed the original story to make the person who is being talked about seem bad. Does this scenario sound familiar? If yes, then chances are you know what gossiping is. Gossiping (also known as Gist in the African community) is the act of spreading rumors especially about the private affairs of others and an be seen as a bad thing. It is hard to determine if gossiping is more rampant among women versus men.

Everybody gossips at some point in time. Women may seem to like gossiping more than men as women tend to talk more among themselves and are more vocal about how they feel and love to narrate things. Whereas guys are depicted as more collected and not into talking as much. Which is wrong. Both men and women gossip A LOT. Gossiping has been a major way in which various groups of people bond and and form friendships as it creates a special kind of communication between people.

We all know that gossiping is usually seen in a negative manner even if the gossip information is factual because it is usually done behind the person of interests back or dished out in the media for all read or hear about it with some sort of intention behind it like wanting to see peoples reaction to it, or wanting to hear what people say once they hear it.
