Cameroonian President, Paul Biya has tore social media apart with photos on his official page as proof of a meeting which he held today in Cameroon’s Unity Palace with the Ambassador from France to Cameroon Christophe Guilhou. Cameroonians have been in a state of pandemonium since the outbreak of covid-19 as tensions rose following the long silence of their longest servings President, who had not issued a word since the pandemic broke into his country.
So many rumors had it that things might not have been moving on well in the nation’s capital of Yaounde as many suggested the president was dead. While President’s from other countries have issued public statements, have actively been seen on TV and/or in the public and have taken measures to combat the virus, Cameroon had not been addressed physically by their president, but they were assured all was well by the government.
The long silenced by Paul Biya 87, sparked a lot controversy as opposition parties began to mount pressure on the government and president to surface or legal action would be taken against the statesman.
Just as many predicted, President Paul Biya through his social media account on Thursday March 16,2020, broke the silence with a post and photo of him meeting with the French Ambassador on how to combat the novel coronavirus. One thing to note was that although Ambassador Christophe Guilhou wore a face mask, H.E. Paul Biya did not.
The president according to a decree he signed and made public yesterday March 15, 2020, granted remission to some inmate prisoners as part of the ways to limit the spread of the pandemic.
However, Many Cameroonians still don’t believe that the post on the president’s twitter account from their reactions and it seems the only way to kill their curiosity is for their statesman to address the nation on national television as it’s always the case in times like this.
