Whether we accept it or not, everyone loves to feel good about themselves and if that means feeling beautiful or handsome, then we are speaking the same language. For this to be attained, the kind of lotion, soap etc we use contributes so much to whatsoever results we arrive at. Unfortunately, most times we instead suffer drastic effects after purchasing some products which are not compatible for our skin.
With Social media has becoming more of a market place now than just some garden for fun, though many still find the game of merry-go-round-like space more enticing, many others are looking far beyond that. They get to buy or order most of this products on this space and what is advertised is hardly what is delivered. It is worth noting that, as the level of creativity increases, so too is employability.
Many brands are now visible and present on this space. The competition is getting fierce and only the strong, with worthwhile products will survive the heat. Now, one thing you as a product seller or Producer should ask yourself is whether your product can stand the heat of the market. With new brands popping up from left to right and center, will your product be able to still survive in the long run?
Something that will catch your attention if you are keen enough, is the fact that most people lie a lot about the quality of their products. In fact, the rush to produce below par products just because they want to meet sales and fast money is their only goal. This is very evident in the cosmetic industry. Most self acclaimed cosmeticians pay less attention to medical guidelines before producing their stuff. They don’t even care how the product affects the customer, they just want to sell and move on.
However, most people don’t also just buy out of excitement, may be others do, but some really don’t. They must be sure that what they are purchasing is worth it and that it meets their demand. This will motivate them to confidently recommend the product to some other person and this is what really gives your brand relevance: Reviews and recommendations.
We can appreciate the level of patience, cosmetological input and branding around cosmetic and beauty products prior to its release. Beauty brand moguls like Rihanna who own Fenti Beauty and Huda who owns Huda Beauty don’t just sell for others to use, the consumption and promoting of their products begins with themselves as they have to show potential consumers that they consume their own products. If it’s good enough for them to use, then its should be good enough for average consumer. They have to believe in their products to confidently sell it to you.
Let’s turn it over to you. As a consumer, what criteria do you use to buy beauty products:
- Reviews by other users?
- Recommendations by friends and/or family?
- Packaging of the products?
- Trial and error?
