The weekend was fueled with untimely drama in the Entertainment industry. As for the end to end battles In the industry, none of that is new, we’ve thriving through it haven’t we?
Three major events happened over the weekend and all in one way or the other were geared towards celebrating and sharing love via the art of music. However, one event would be cancelled by the authorities. The show that faced obsession and cancellation was the Naira Marley concert which was initially moved from Buea to Limbe.
An artist who was caught in the middle is Mic Monsta, because he had to perform in both concerts; Naira Marley and Ko-c’s Homecoming concert. But with the Naira Marley concert being moved to Limbe, Mic Monsta would have to make a choice and he came out clear saying he would not make to Kumba eventhough he had accepted to perform.
Why Mic Monsta Should Not Be Your Scapegoat
The concert in Kumba was meant to put a smile on the faces of the Kumba people and the turn up was huge with thrilling performances from the artists who perform. Kumba is a town like any other English city which has suffered violence. Since the beginning of the crises, Artists like Mic Monsta and Tzy Panchak have been very much involved in standing against the unjust killings. So did Mic’s absence in Kumba imply that he didn’t love the city?
Let’s be fair with our judgement. If he didn’t, why then did he accept to be part of it in the first place ? Ko-c’s concert came up after the Flier for the Naira Marley Concert was already circulating and Mic Monsta had confirmed he would perform in Buea. He also thought he could perform in both and as such accepted to feature in Kumba. Buea is closer to Kumba than Limbe is, so it might have been easy to leave Buea to Kumba or leave Kumba to Buea. But moving from Kumba to Limbe After performing would be more stressful and a daunting task. So he chose to drop the town he’s been supporting.
What IS certain here is that, knowing the industry that we are in, Mic Monsta is going to be hated by many and as a matter of fact, I won’t be surprised if artists like Ko-c never support Mic Monsta if he had to pull up a similar show in the future.
It’s funny how many say he favored a Nigerian artist over a home crowd. Was the Naira Marley show not in Cameroon for the Cameroonian population and also had Cameroonian artists to perform? Let’s not power hate amongst these artist just because someone made his choice.
The Kumba concert was a huge success and special congratulations to Ko-c. Let Mic Monsta not be a scape goat for choosing where to put his energy.
