“…for say my foot touch down Cameroon again go tay eeeh” – CY Old Pancho
Cameroonian entertainer and 80-20 advocate CY Old Pancho International has revealed that he is not planning to return to Cameroon anytime soon. He is planning to switch his
attention from the Anglophone Entertainment Industry to the French, due to the fact that Anglophone Cameroonians don’t seem to understand the importance of his contributions to the industry.
CY International, has been instrumental with his quest for Cameroonians to support and consume their own more than they consume foreign content and products.
A few years ago, Old Pancho went viral on Nigerian blogs for calling out Nigerians for not supporting other countries especially Cameroon. Pancho questioned severally, why Nigerian artists come to Cameroon and get paid hundreds of millions but no Cameroonian could boast of the same both in Cameroon and Nigeria ? This attack on Nigeria sparked controversy that has only gotten intense over these years.
His fight for 80% consumption of Cameroonian products and content, against 20% of foreign content, has been ongoing for a number of years now. Old Pancho hasn’t slowed down his quest, as it has even made him one of the most vibrant and most popular Cameroonian social media Influencers.
The comedian, who is currently in France, for his European tour, has still not let down his guard but has remained vocal about the campaign.
He has however hinted to his followers and compatriots about his intentions to not return to Cameroon anytime soon. He reveals that he’s focusing on acquiring his French passport via a Facebook post. He also claims that his knowledge about entertainment is too big for Anglophone Cameroonians to comprehend..
“Sorry to disappoint you Cameroon🇨🇲
My Talent and knowledge of entertainment too big for English Cameroonian Entertainers to carry, #FrenchPassport on my mind, for say my foot touch down Cameroon again go Tey ehhh!! Ah dong…”
CY International has been a pain in the behinds of most entertainers. He has never shied away from calling out entertainers and stakeholders to stand up for their own and put theirs first. From the look of things, especially judging from Kocee’s reception in Nigeria, CY is having the last laugh as he believes Kocee’s current breakthrough in Nigeria is thanks to his efforts.
Do you think CY has the right to take credit for Kocee’s breakthrough?
