Fans are all jubilant as Cameroon’s national soccer team coach, Rigobert Song, makes positive comments about ousted goalkeeper André Onana. The Indomitable Lions coach has opined that the lions den is wide open for the Inter Milan No. 1 who is in the best form of his life.
André Onana who recently led the Italian team to the quarter-finals of the UEFA Champions League, having magnificent saves in the dying minutes of the game against FC. Porto, was sent packing while in Qatar at the World Cup 2022, after disagreeing with the coach in a training session. This saw Onana blacklisted by the head coach. The former Cameroonian No.1 weeks later, retired from international duties at only 26, a decision that many found perplexing.
Ahead of the qualifying game against Namibia, coach Rigobert Song has said that André Onana can still return to the team if he does the right thing. Rigobert heaped praises on the 26-year old and said:
“The doors of the national team are open for his return. He’s one of the best goalkeepers in the world at the moment…”
Now, the question remains whether Onana will come back to the Indomitable Lions, with Cameroon facing a crucial qualification campaign against Gambia, ahead of The African Nations Cup to take place in Ivory Coast in 2024.
It is obvious that fans will want to see their goalie back in the goal, but do you think he will return?
