Who said being a Model is easy? Imagine being a Plus Size Model in an era where everything you see on TV that promotes beauty implies that “being slim or skinny” is beautiful and being think, curvy or plus size is not attractive. In addition to that, when you look at some of the worlds top fashion runways, all you see are tall, very skinny ( almost anaoexic looking) models gracing the runways wearing fashion designs from some of the worlds top A-lister fashion designers and you begin to wonder. So as a fashion enthusiast, if you are on the larger side, how would that make you feel knowing that even the designers who’s cloths you admire dont even represent you as in your size and don’t even try to? Yet these same designers are the one’s we promote and speak so highly of.
In Africa, thankfully African’s tend to embrace women who are on the thicker side (for the most part like in West and Central Africa). It’s a cultural thing as they think a women is more wife material when thick or sheis enjoying life and is healthy” LOL! These are all myths and doesnt really mean anything because any women can be wife material or healthy thick or thin! But it’s great to see that some Fashion Agency’s actually catering to Plus Size Models. In the photo’s in this post, these lovely ladies are Plus Size Model’s from Cameroon and they are not ashasmed to flaunt theit curves at you and are the face of the “big girls” and they are here to stay!
One of the Plus Size Models called Estelle Eteme (as seen in the second photo above who is sitting down with the curly hair) was even casted to be in Cameroon’s Hiphop star Stanley Enow’s “Follow Me” video last year as SEEN HERE and we have seen other thicker women and some Plus Size Models who are video vixens in some of these top artists videos lately. One video who’s main video vixen was hands down and girl on the thicker side is singer Ambe’s Reste La video! So being a Plus Size Model is special and it actually represent the majority of the women in the world as most women are NOT skinny and tall! So remember to embrace the skin you’re in and weeerk it!
