SEE HOW WAZIH’S SONG “CALL YOU” FEATURING ELISHA K. IS A HARSH REMINDER THAT LOVE CAN KILL YOU [VIDEO INCLUDED]
Singer WAZIH released a new video for his song called “Call You”, a week before Valentine’s Day and the song and video combined will have people thinking about the purpose of life and love in general because of its overall message and meaning. Especially since we are in February, the season of love which can be a happy time for newly weds or new couples as much as it can be a horrible time of the year for someone who has lost a loved one or has broken up with someone they still love or care about. With constant daily reminders of “Lovers Day” in honor of Valentine’s Day, this is also a time when many go into serious depression and are more prone to committing suicide or having suicidal thoughts. Why are we talking about love and suicide? We are talking about it because the foundation of WAZIH’s song Call You is based off of that.

Call You featuring Elisha K, is a song off of WAZIH’s highly anticipated EP called “ANOTIC“. Elisha K is described as being a “prolific young artist/singer/songwriter…” and has a lovely voice. The song is a melancholic and tragic song and without sending out a spoiler alert by giving it all away, this song is about a lover who looses his lover to another. This sets the tone for the rest of the video and how it ends as WAZIH in the second verse expresses his depression. The Chorus is a promise (in the Mankon dialect, a language from the North West Region of Cameroon) of unending love for the girl.
Many at times, people take this thing called love for granted which can have very negative consequences when things don’t go as desired or planned in a relationship. The song and video’s message are a reality check that not everyone you see is truly happy and not everyone who looses a loved one can handle it.There is no doubt that this song has the potential to stir up much needed discussions around depression and suicide (a topic which is still a taboo) especially in Africa and in Cameroon where WAZIH resides. Watching this video is bound to make you teary-eyed.
WAZIH definitely wins an award in setting a very melancholic tone in most, if not all of his songs that we have heard thus far; like his song “I will Find You“. He is very passionate about sending specific messages across in every song and as much as we love listening to his music, we hesitate when listening to any new song he puts out, as it is always carry’s weight with a deep message, usually coming from a dark and painful place. It is also a reminder that at the end of the day, we are humans with feelings and we are very vulnerable to our environment and society. Regardless of how it happens, our lives can be taken in a split second.
Geraldo Guevara (who had directed WAZIH’s video for I Will Find You) and Duke de Victoria, both of whom directed the video, did a decent job in telling WAZIH’s story.
