Is Lelio Achanga The Best Halloween Makeup Artist In Cameroon?

There are makeup artists, and then there are MAKEUP ARTISTS (do I really need to explain the difference?). Makeup artist and founder of Dazzle By Lelio, Lelio Achanga, is one of those rare creatives who has truly redefined the art of makeup application. Her work reflects not only exceptional skill, but a genuine love for what she does.

Lelio has an incredible ability to make a woman feel beautiful at any age. We experienced this firsthand when she did our Editor’s makeup for a wedding this past summer. But her talent does not stop at traditional beauty looks. This creative Jem can transform you into anything from a flawless princess to a gruesome, blood-drained monster. Her skills are limitless and extend far beyond makeup for weddings, parties, and special events.

She is one of the very few, if not the only makeup artists in Cameroon daring enough to move beyond conventional eyeshadow, blush, and mascara. Lelio specializes in highly graphic, dramatic, and realistic special-effects makeup, creating everything from horrific creatures to shockingly lifelike injuries. That is art, in its purest form.

It comes as no surprise that she is in high demand on movie sets across Cameroon, especially for productions that require accident scenes, physical trauma, or full character transformations. Curious to see what she had planned for Halloween 2016, THJ reached out to Lelio to ask about her makeup theme for the season. Ever modest, she explained:

“These are the looks I created for Halloween this year. I decided to go comic in some and spooky in others. Not the best of what I had in mind – but better than not trying at all.
