SINGER MR. LEO SHOWING EXACTLY WHY HE’S CALLED “THE LION OF AFRICA” AS HE FEATURES COLLECTIF AFRICA
Cameroonian singer Mr. Leo, known by many as the “Lion of Africa”, gives us a tip of the iceberg as to why he believes he deserves that title. Being one of the most talented singers that the Cameroon has, he rose to prominence in 2016 and moved from glory to glory with hit song after hit song until he fell from the percking order in late 2019 with him going underground and working behind the scenes on his own artist’s musical careers as he grew his record label called Lionn Productions. The HotJem was tipped off that Mr, Leo’s album is in the works, something that I’m sure his fans will be pleased to hear as this would be his first album since the start of his musical career and is long due.
Many reasons could account for his silence in late 2019 (as mentioned above) and in 2020, the latter year evertone has been hit by the unprecedented coronavirus. Mr. Leo established his own label – Lionn Production where he signed artists like Kameni and Gonez. He has for the time being focused more on building a reputation out of his parent label – Alpha Better Records, owned by his boss and colleague – Salatiel. Focusing on putting his two artists on the spotlight has kept him silent until he later brought us a piece his titled “Zege Zege/mental slavery”
Just when rumors were already circulating on the internet about his fall from grace and what he can do to spark off his career, the artist takes everyone by surprise as he took a bold step in uniting Africa against coronavirus.
The artist has teamed up with some sensational African singers in a song called “Zero Corona” to keep the fight going non-stop.
He united with Wizboyy (Nigeria), Revolution and DJ Kedjevera from Ivory Coast, Daphne, Salatiel, Kameni, Gomez, Mr. Leo each respectively from Cameroon, Spice Diana from Uganda, Daisy Franck and BB Sheghal from Burkina Faso, and Djanny Patcha from DR Congo. The studio session jam video directed by Dr. Nkeng Stephens is quite a lovely one, song produced by Boi Harley/Loony tunes.
The project by Mr. Leo is in collaboration with UNICEF as they look to put an end to the continuos spread of the deadly virus which has claimed lives upon lives. The idea of uniting artists across Africa is an indication that a united Africa is possible.
“The slow movement of a lion is not weakness but a calculated accuracy” – African proverb, and that’s exactly what “the Lion of Africa” is proving to us.
Everyone’s delivery in this project was magnificent as everyone poured their emotions and seriousness into it and at the end of the day, we can say that too many hands can do not just light work but a perfect job when brilliant ideas are joint together.
Salatiel and Daphne came into the project after doing a series of community donations and sensitizations – still in the fight against coronavirus. Coming into a project again to sensitize people against coronavirus, tells us that there no stopping now.
From Cameroon to Nigeria to Cote D’Ivoire to Burkina Faso to Uganda and Democractic Republic of Congo, we can stay united and connected during these dark days as we stay safe from COVID-19.
