Cameroonian and Indomitable Lions goalkeepers; Andre Onana and brother, Fabrice Ondoa, have been called back into the national team after an emergency meeting was conveyed in Yaounde on May 30th, 2023. Both are expected to be part of the team heading to the United States on June 10th, for a friendly match against Mexico in preparation for the AFCON showdown in Ivory Coast in 2024.
While Andre Onana only left the team in December 2023 due to a disagreement between him the head-coach Rigobert Song and him, Ondoa has not been part of the team ever since he won the AFCON with the team in 2017.
With both coming back to the team, this only opens up new competition and strengthens the goal options for the national team.
The Federation sent an appeal to the Ministry of External Affairs, requesting for a visa for these players to join the other team members ahead of their friendly match.
It should be noted that Onana will not be part of the team immediately, given that he will be rejoining Inter Milan in the days ahead in preparation for their Champions League Final on June 10th, so it it likely to see his brother Ondoa as the goalkeeper.
