There are many Cameroonian artists in the diaspora who left their country to seek greener pastures. While flying from coast to coast, they didn’t only take their bags along with them, they also took their musical careers and musical dreams with them which has either been a side hustle or a main hustle for most of them.
By now, you should know the following artists in foreign land who’re not sleeping a night without hitting the studio to show what they’re musically made of. But if you don’t, then here’s your chance to get to know them.
1 – Zinnia: Nigerian-based Cameroonian singer, song writer and performer – Zinnia is one of the most respected Cameroonian artists out of the country.
There’s a saying that a prophet is never accepted in their hometown which seems to be the case with Zinnia as she earned tremendous respect and more value when she left Cameroon and became a musical phenom in the Fiji islands (I mean HUGE as in she is currently considered as an A-list artist in Fiji) after her mega successful hit song “Overload” blew speakers and became a street anthem!
Her musical journey has been one to get inspired by. From Cameroon to South Africa and to Nigeria, you should know her by now, if not for her Overload song, then at least for her “Good Times” EP. Steam Zinnia’s EP on Boomplay:

2 – Don Jay: Mr. Julius is popularly known as the Mayor of 237 music. He’s a Cameroonian artist based in the diaspora. One of the few living in and hustling in Russia. Since leaving Cameroon to Thailand and before moving to Russia, he had been a passionate musician.
Moving out of the country has given him the opportunity to hustle more and also invest more in his music career. His contributions to the music industry has not been one to ignore. He recently released an EP called “The Mayor” available on all streaming platforms. His EP is available on eNow Digital:

3 – Jbwai: A music enthusiast who hails from the city of Kumba found himself in Toronto, Canada, making him one of the few from Cameroon in this part of the world, to take their music career seriously.
Jbwai hit the ground running a few years ago and being not just a songwriter and performer but also a sound engineer, it has been a double advantage that has catapulted his music career and he’s now being streamed worldwide ans his music has been talked about in very popular Nigerian media outlets to name a few. Check out his latest video “Busy Body Remix” featuring rapper Ko-c below:

4 – Adele-Clarice: Yaii!! Adele is one of the most loved diaspora #Cameroonian female artists. Not just because of her voice and talent, but equally because of her persona(lity). Adele is very supportive of other talents and has been actively present in the music sphere for more than a decade and her input has been massive.
We can go as far back to her participation in the Nescafé African Revelation Laureate with #BAAM. Now an independent artist, she has been nothing but consistent with hits like “Bad boy, Mama, Jealous, and Fais Comme Ça” just to name a few. So will you still say you don’t know her? Check out Clarice’s latest single jealousy:
5 – Vani Sha: Another incredibly talented Cameroonian musical sensation based in the diaspora and making waves in the United States. Vani Sha hails from the North West Region of the Cameroon (Batibo) and has huge potentials to be the next big “thing” out there.
Over the past few years, Vani Sha has been very active musically, investing much more time and effort into her career and her streaming accounts are loaded with music content. You should be checking out this beautiful damsel’s music very often. She’s afro soul and can go extra miles thanks to her versatility. Check out her song “Go High” currently at 585,000 YouTube views in just three months:
6 – Lenz Wite: As we earlier stated, most of these diaspora artists also have very interesting careers besides music but their passion for music wouldn’t let them ignore that side of them.
Another artist in the diaspora making waves is US-based Cameroonian singer and songwriter Emile Nkembe who’s stage name is Lenz Wite. He’s a petroleum engineer who’s not letting his music dream fade.
Lenz Wite has been active over the years and has some interesting projects you might want to check out. He’s also one of the the artists actively present on most streaming platforms. Check out Lenz’s latest single “Man Go Die”:
