The Last of Us TV series is a direct and faithful adaptation of the famous video games created by Naughty Dog for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. Widely considered as the best Zombie serie, The show closely follows the story, scenes, and emotions of the games. One thing that makes the series even more exciting is the casting , the actors look and act very much like the original game characters. Pedro Pascal, who plays Joel, perfectly captures his rough, serious, and protective nature. Bella Ramsey, who plays Ellie, brings out Ellie’s brave, funny, and emotional side, just like in the game. Their appearance, voice, and behavior strongly remind fans of the characters from the PlayStation versions, making the story feel real and familiar.

Season 1 is based on the first The Last of Us game. It takes place in a world that has been destroyed by a dangerous infection caused by a fungus called Cordyceps. The infection spreads quickly and turns people into zombie-like creatures. Governments collapse, cities are ruined, and the few survivors live in fear and control zones.
The story follows Joel, a man who lost his daughter when the infection first began, and Ellie, a 14-year-old girl who is immune to the infection. Joel is hired to smuggle Ellie out of a military-controlled area and bring her to a group called the Fireflies. They believe her immunity can help create a cure for the infection.
As Joel and Ellie travel across the country, they face many dangers such as infected monsters, hostile groups of people, and deep emotional pain. Along the way, Joel starts to see Ellie as a daughter, and their bond becomes the heart of the story. They lose friends like Tess, Henry, and Sam, and they meet dangerous people like David, who tries to harm Ellie.
In the end, when they finally reach the Fireflies, Joel discovers that they must kill Ellie to make the cure. He refuses to lose another daughter figure and decides to rescue Ellie by force, killing the doctors and escaping with her. When Ellie later asks what happened, Joel lies and tells her the Fireflies found others like her and didn’t need her anymore.
Season 1 is almost exactly like the first game, with scenes, emotions, and characters brought to life. The final moment, when Ellie quietly asks Joel if he’s telling the truth, leaves viewers with a strong feeling of sadness and mystery, just like in the game.
Season 2 is based on The Last of Us Part II, which was released for both PS4 and PS5. The story picks up several years after Season 1. Joel and Ellie now live in a peaceful town called Jackson. But things are not perfect as Ellie has started to question Joel’s story about what happened with the Fireflies, and their relationship is not as close as it once was.
A new character named Abby enters the story. She is the daughter of the doctor Joel killed at the Firefly hospital. She finds Joel and kills him in front of Ellie to get revenge. This moment is shocking and painful, and it pushes Ellie on a dark and dangerous path.
The rest of the season shows Ellie’s journey to find Abby and take revenge. She travels with her girlfriend Dina, and along the way, she faces battles, flashbacks, and emotional memories of Joel. We also see Abby’s side of the story, how she deals with her own loss, fights to protect her friends, and ends up meeting a boy named Lev, who changes her heart.
This season shows both sides of the conflict: Ellie’s pain and anger, and Abby’s guilt and struggles. It helps viewers understand that in a world like this, nobody is completely good or bad. Everyone is trying to survive in their own way.
In the end, Ellie finally finds Abby, but she decides to let her go instead of killing her. She returns home, but she has lost so much, including her fingers (which stop her from playing guitar) and her peace of mind. The season ends with Ellie alone, thinking about Joel and what she has become.
Both seasons of The Last of Us series are powerful, emotional, and very close to the PlayStation 4 and 5 games. The actors, especially Pedro Pascal as Joel and Bella Ramsey as Ellie, look and act just like the characters from the game. Their performances help bring the video game story to life in a way that feels deep and real. The show is more than a zombie story it is about love, pain, survival, forgiveness, and the hard choices we make in life. Fans of the game will love how true the series stays to the original story, while new viewers will be touched by its powerful message and unforgettable characters.
