Canada will play at home and will want to show fast and direct soccer. Switzerland is known for stability and strong defence while Qatar will hope to prove that their appearance in 2022 was not by chance. The open space in this group will go to the winner of UEFA Play off A which includes Italy, Northern Ireland, Wales and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Italy remains the favorite because of their history and squad depth, but Wales and Bosnia also have real chances.

Brazil enters as one of the biggest names in the world and will always be a contender. Morocco arrives with strong confidence after their historic performance in recent tournaments. Scotland brings fight and team spirit while Haiti enters as the underdog of the group. This group looks very competitive because three nations have enough quality to trouble each other.
Group D

• Winner of UEFA Play off C
The United States will play at home and will try to use their physicality and fast transitions. Paraguay always brings technique and power while Australia is famous for discipline and strong pressing. The last place will go to the winner of UEFA Play off C which has Türkiye, Slovakia, Kosovo and Romania. Türkiye and Romania stand out as possible favorites but Slovakia is a very organized team and could also surprise.

Germany will want to rebuild their image after difficult international years. Ecuador brings youth and energy while Ivory Coast is full of talent and physical strength. Spain comes with technical quality and a new generation full of confidence. Uruguay arrives with toughness and a tradition of performing well under pressure. Saudi Arabia carries strong belief after recent big results while Cape Verde will want to show that they can trouble the giants. This group looks tough because the level of competition is very high.

• Winner of Inter confederation Play off 2
France will arrive as one of the main contenders for the tournament. Senegal brings strength and a solid team with top African stars while Norway will depend heavily on their world class forward line. The open place will go to the winner of Inter confederation Play off 2 which includes Iraq, Bolivia and Suriname. Bolivia has the longest tradition but Iraq has shown growth and Suriname has improved in recent years. The contest for that place will be interesting to watch.

• Jordan
Argentina comes as the defending champion and will be one of the most watched sides. Austria has strong organization while Algeria offers talent and creativity. Jordan arrives as the underdog and will try to keep their campaign alive with courage. Argentina will enter as the clear favorite but the other three will compete strongly for second place.

• Winner of Play off 1
Portugal has a squad filled with world class players and will expect to dominate. Colombia brings flair and attacking power while Uzbekistan is one of the fastest growing sides in Asia. The final spot will go to the winner of Play off 1 which includes DR Congo, Jamaica and New Caledonia. DR Congo and Jamaica are the main favorites but New Caledonia will fight with determination. Whoever takes this spot will face a very tough group.

• Panama
• Ghana
England arrives with one of the deepest squads in modern soccer. Croatia brings experience and great midfield control while Ghana will depend on power, speed and belief. Panama will play with heart as they always do and will try to cause problems. This group includes two very strong nations and two determined challengers and every match will be important.
