In as much as we can say the music industry is flying at the moment, you can’t help but worry about why some amazing artists are not getting the attention they much deserve. Hardly believed in the word “Underrated” before but the careers and talent of these artists: Shura, Ewube and Montess would make you consider the word. These singers have released project in the past few weeks but they are not being spoken about, what could be the problem?
EWUBE:
Jeniffer Ewube who hails from the South West Region, Manyu Division (Mamfe) to be precise is one of the most talented female singers, song writer, performer & Vocalist. Born in 1994 and with a BSc in Economics from the University of Buea, She delved fully into the art of music. This is one artist who has been able to have a differing experience with a series of Record labels, currently signed to Steven’s Music Entertainment LLC. She doesn’t still seem to get the attention she deserves for unexplainable reasons. With an amazing Discography spiced with a beautiful EP called “Renaissance” she released a beautiful “Kpe Kpe” video a few weeks ago but it doesn’t also seem to be getting the attention it deserves. What could be the issue?
Check out the video to her song, directed by Chuzih, and produced by Akwandor Empire
MONTESS:
Born in 1991 in a family of three, she’s the headliner of the family. She’s gained international recognition by winning an #AFRIMA award won in 2017 against all odds in the category of Best Female Artist in Central Africa. That’s why it’s hard to believe that Cameroonians have the nerve to sit on Queen Montesses case by rejecting her win. It’s equally hard to make peace with the fact that Montess has hardly been in every conversation related to music and it’s not even an issue of inconsistency because she’s been consistent with respect to her music. It’s not like she’s not talented, she’s one of the best female vocalists, performer, song writer and backup singer, amazingly versatile with mastery in reggae, sancehall, afro pop et al.
It is also good to reiterate that she grew up dancing, winning several interschool dance competitions, so it’s fair to say aside from being a singer, she’s a good dancer who decided to focus more on her singing career. In 2016, she teamed up with Stanley Enow to release a hit song “Play Ma Song” a club banger no one could afford to ignore. She’s been influential and instrumental and though her AFRIMA win came as a surprise to many, she couldn’t be written off. She collaborated with Ko-C and Mr.Leo to create beautiful songs which didn’t really get the attention they deserved.
Her entire discography speaks volumes with rich tunes. Currently working on her “Small Girl, Big God” Album, she released a video with the aforementioned title one week ago produced by Akwandor & Directed by Adah Akenji .

SHURA:
Born on January 18, 1989, Fru Shura Tiana who hails from Akum in the North West Region with a medical background ( Nurse) adopted music as her first hustle and became Signed to Steven’s Music in 2016. Shura had series of international and national nominations for the amazing work she did overtime with hit singles like “Allez dire” which was a viral hit.
Although she followed up after Allez Dire with the release of some great singles, Shura’s relevance seemingly began diminishing for unexplainable reasons.
While at Steven’s Music Entertainment, Shura was on a Facebook live session with The HotJem in 2020 and revealed that she would be releasing an EP in 2021. However, a few months later, she and the label parted ways and she decided to go solo and is now rebranding into a “new” Shura. She released a few singles since going solo which haven’t really been in the spotlight. Please hit the link below to feel her new vibe.
