The West and Central African hip-hop music industry has been causing quite a stir lately and The HotJem has been watching from a distance. After an unprecedented silence during the first few months of 2020, hip-hop artist and CEO of New Bell Music record label, Jovi, also known as Mboko God, who refers to himself as an African hip-hop legend and who is known for his controversial tweets and sarcastic statements about about others in the music industry (triggered and/or self-initiated), decided to break the silence.
Fast forward to the coronavirus self-isolation/confinement period, when he broke the silence with his tweets as usual, the (Cameroonian) music industry has since then been unbalanced. It is not news that whenever Jovi tweets, as there is always bound to be a tussle at the end of the day, especially because so many individuals in the African music industry always feel attacked by his “quoted” and sometimes indirect way of communication.
Many can attest that they often reply to his tweets without understanding what he really means in his tweets as they just feel attacked. Especially if you are not familiar with his music, as he tends to quote lyrics or short phrases from his songs to pass his message across via his tweets whether he’s advising or “insulting” someone. That’s the wisdom in quoting, as you can use one stone to shoot a dozen of birds and it has worked for the New Bell Music boss and his career.
Jovi broke the silence in 2020 by aiming at international artists and for the past two months, it’s been from one attack to the other. Everyone including home artists are expressing their vews about their country man. Everyone knows the fight used to be between the New Bell Music Label boss and his highest rival of all times Stanley Enow. But is it still happening the same way?
For some time, Stanley has not uttered a word concerning his jibe with Jovi. He’s been silent about controversies for quite some time and it seems like the battle between the two is suddenly spreading like rumors, from one part of the industry to another. Many have inherited the fight and have not ended up anywhere, because the problem between Jovi and Enow is bigger than anyone.
How did Tzy Panchak get caught in the mix? Such a tough question but as a mathematician, there is no problem without a solution, so let’s see what happened.
Tzy Panchak was considered to many since the debut of his career as possibly one of the coolest and less controversial artists Cameroon is blessed with. His smile, voice, choice of music and ways were appealing to almost everyone. Tzy didn’t just end at being a Blu Nation Soldier, he was becoming a solution to the industry, rallying younger Cameroonian to bring the best out of them. Worthy of note is the “Naso” project that shined the light on likes of Tina Vernyuy, Cleo Grae, and Vivid Smith, and a few others who benefited from his gesture.
