Earlier today, US Rapper Meek Mills (and friend to Cameroonian NBA star Joel Embiid) posted on his Twitter page the hashtag #askmeek for people to ask him anything. Which meant today was a day for fans (and haters) to ask him anything that came to their mind. Did it mean that he would answer everyone’s questions? No.
However, one question stood out from the rest simply because at a time where Google is everyone’s BFF and searching for anything you can think of in this world is so easy that even babies know how to search for their diapers online (OK all jokes aside), but it was quite shocking to see a celebrity as big a Meek Mill publicly show his ignorance or lack of knowledge (about something that only required a split second of his time to just search for the answer online) and not take a second to educate themselves on the little things that matter to those who follow-him such as the geographical location of a country. In this day and time, there is NO EXCUSE to be ignorant about where a country is located if you were asked this via a social media platform.
To make a “short story long”, here is why we were perplexed by Meek’s during his what seemed to be a day of Q&A’s. After Meek posted his #askmeek comment, a fan from Cameroon called Cherel Carter twitted the following question to Meek Mill “#askmeek@MeekMill when are you coming to Cameroon?” as seen below:
Now for the response that had many of his fans thinking if Meek did not have access to the internet at the time of his response back to Cherel Carter which we know he did or he would not have been able to tweet his response to Cherel’s question:
“I don’t know where that is…“. This is in reference to Cameroon. Meek claims he doesn’t know where Cameroon is. The funny thing about his response is that he must have known or should have at least guessed that if a fan is asking when he would be coming to perform in a certain country or place, the assumption that he/she either lives there or is from there. So why did Meek Mill not think to look up where Cameroon was before replying back to someone who clearly wants him to come there and perform. Let me reiterate again that Meek Mill is friends with Joel Embiid who is from Cameroon and is a basketball player for the Philadelphia 76ers and need I remind you that Joel had visited Meeks in prison? How many people visit “casual” friends in prison? 🤔
All we’re saying is that if we were Joel, not knowing where his country is located is a bit insulting especially if they are good friends. Maybe this is just the life of celebrities to act clueless. Who knows. But let’s just say, there were many people who were shocked by Meeks response to the point that they found it funny as many laughed while others told Meek to go ask his buddy Joel (lol) where Cameroon is. Someone even went as far as taking a snapshot of a map and circling Cameroon! I don’t think Meek expected this reaction so we’ll let you read the Tweets and comments and be amused by them! 😆
